We have electricity!

So the first thing I noticed today was the addition of the electric and gas meters.  House was not locked at all, even the sliding glass door was wide open.  Inside were extension cords, so they do have electric from the outlet down next to the AC panel.

So here is the electric & gas meters on the north side of the garage.  Note the siding on the right side in this picture.  They did do the complete wall on the north side of the great room.

Here is the side/corner they worked on today.

Here is another shot from the opposite side.  I did not get a good picture of the right corner here.  But just above and to the right of the small siding piece leaning there are some buckles/warps in the siding.  These will have to be fixed.

Still no insulation...

Recent updates

So I haven't been able to get to this lately, but here are the updates.  Siding was delivered last Thursday (8-22).  Almost all, if not all, the electrical is done.  Yesterday (8-26) they started doing siding.  Today they delivered drywall.  However, they have not insulated yet.  There was no progress with siding today, not sure if it was due to the high temps and humidity or what.  I know I was drenched with sweat just taking these pictures!

Here is a pic of the siding in the garage as it was last Thursday.

This was taken Monday 8-26.

Here is the pile of material in the garage today.  We even have the porch railing.  There is another skid of drywall too.

This is the drywall stored in the great room.

This is from the master bedroom showing all the drywall waiting to be hung.

This is for my reference.  This is where they ran the cable (and cat 5E?) up over the garage ceiling.  This comes out in the wall in the upstairs bathroom.  There is a picture of that area too.  Good part is the cable could easily be tapped into to run to any of the upstairs rooms.  Not sure why there is 5E, but they have it coming from the cable entrance,

So here is a shot of the wiring coming into the wall in the upstairs bath against the garage wall.

This is our siding info.  Hudson Bay Khaki.

This is the back wall area of the "media closet".  I drilled a small hole through the stud here so I can drill a large hole from the basement after we take possession to run wires.

This is the wall between the media closet and the laundry room.

This is under the media closet.  This will be in the unfinished mechanical room, so I can easily drill a hole to run wires.  I hope I can find the hole again when the time comes!

HVAC - ok, no AC

So today was just more of yesterday.  They have not delivered any more material.  There are a few things probably for the HVAC guy to do, but not much.  A-1 Mechanical did the work.  Rain is expected tomorrow...

Dryer vent and gas line.  They did run the dryer vent out the front, right next to the basement bathroom exhaust fan.

This is the mechanical area with all the duct work.

Fireplace is in position.

These are the runs over the kitchen

Plumbing has begun...

So, not much work after they put the windows in.  They did lock up the house, so now we will need to get a key to get in.  Although they still aren't real good on locking it, I got in without the key.

So when I first walked in, I didn't think they did much.  I just saw this pile of material in the den.  Then I got looking around...most of the plumbing is done, at least the rough parts.

Laundry room plumbing rough in.  Not sure where they are going to put the dryer vent.

Main floor bathroom rough in.

Connection for the refrigerator water line.

Kitchen sink rough in.  Not sure what all the scrap lumber is here.

So this is the furnace and the fireplace here in the garage.

Basement shower unit.

Basement bath rough in.

This is the girls bathtub upstairs.

So this was a little corner piece on the plan that I asked about.  They said nothing goes here, and I thought it would be a good place for a little built in display.  Can't do that because they are running cold air return here.

Master bath shower base.

This is under the master bath, above the living room.

We even got outdoor hose bibs!  This one out the back by the sliding glass door.

This is the one on the south side of the house.

Still no siding here...

Boring day... Just windows

Today they got the windows installed and also did more detail on the house wrap.  There isn't any material in the garage, so I hope there is not a delay due to material.

The house was all open when we got there.  Probably still trying to dry out the inside.  Everything is in to seal up the outside.  The doors are not the final doors, just temps while they build.  Darn sun made for a dark picture.

Backside all wrapped with windows installed.

We are trying to decide what we do with the center window above the door/porch roof.  This will be in the "grand" entrance way, but about 12' up.  Do we put blinds there??

Here is the spot I mentioned yesterday.  3 different sections of roof, all exiting here.  We looked at the other houses, and have not found any with a roof line quite like ours.

So the big question, what next?  Siding?  Based on how they did other projects, they tend to get siding up quick and then move inside.

We have roof!

They must have had a decent roofing crew to get it all shingled in a day.  I drove by around 9:30 this morning and there wasn't anyone there.  On my way home at 5:30, they were almost done.

I had to use the house to block the sun.  I wonder how much water will dump off the roof in that area above the porch?  Bet there will be ice there in the winter.

Here we can see the roof vents and tell it is shingled.

So this is the main power cable where they routed it by my closet!  I was planning on putting PVC pipe about 6" to the left of this hole to run network and cable through.  I'll figure something out.

They also cleaned up the basement and finished the framing.  Here is the closet in the bedroom.  There are still some water puddles under the breakfast nook area.  Both egress windows are open, so with the good weather (and a roof) it should dry out.

Here is another front view.  That is a LOT of roof over the garage.

Beautiful day to build a house!

So today was rather chilly, only got to about 67°, but that was good for building!  They made a lot of progress on the outside, and cleaned up the inside.

Was REALLY bright today!  I could not take the front picture because of the sun.  I may try again earlier (or later) tomorrow.  As you can see, we now have garage doors and the front porch roof!  All of the roof is weathered in with tar paper and it appears all the bundles of shingles are up on the roof.

Another view of the porch area.

They got the roof over the kitchen bump, so now that is visible.  Note the little "ham" in the picture.  Wonder who she gets that from?

Back view showing all the roof.  At least now if it does rain, it will stay mainly on the outside!!

The garage now becomes the material staging area.  Looks like windows and door are next.  Hopefully once they get the house buttoned up we will still be able to get in easily.  We are expecting nice weather this week, so should be making great strides each day.
